For You and Your Family
Moss Psychological Services provides psychotherapeutic and related psychological services to adolescents, adults, parents, and families. We specialize in work with youths ages 12 and older, as well as providing parent training and help with managing parent-adolescent conflict.
Specific areas of youth clinical expertise are as follows:
Can vary by clinical and/or financial need
Priced by length and not by service type (e.g., individual vs family session)
We do not currently participate as "in network" providers on health insurance plans. Our services will qualify as "out of network" service provision, however, for those families with insurance plans that have reimbursement options for out of network health care providers.
We do offer a sliding fee scale. To be considered, a family's treatment needs must closely match one of our areas of unique treatment specialization, and the family's need for a reduction must be significant enough that they will be unable to afford other important life expenses (i.e., food/clothing/shelter/basic life essentials) if they were to pay our standard fees. In these cases, we strongly encourage families to inquire about our services, as we typically do not turn families away from services in this situation. Families seeking services for which there are other qualified treatment providers in the area, or do not meet our financial need criteria, will not be considered for fee reductions. Fee reductions will be evaluated on an individual basis.
By law, health insurance providers must negotiate with out of network health care providers to pay more for care when their in-network provider list does not include specialized providers to treat a specific need or condition. The resulting contract between a health insurance carrier and an out of network provider to provide this care is called a "Single Case Agreement" or a "Gap Exception." If your family's treatment needs align with one of our specialty areas and no in-network providers are alternatively available to provide this service, we may consider completing necessary paperwork to serve as that provider. If approved, the family's cost share becomes the same as if being seen by an in-network provider.
We provide periodic parent training group services for parents experiencing certain specific challenges, most typically with adolescents demonstrating a range of severe behavioral challenges resulting in intense interpersonal conflict at home and other school and/or social difficulties outside the home. While parents often assume that individual parent training 1-1 with a clinician will be most effective, our experience is that in many cases, parenting groups are as effective and sometimes more so. In these cases, the fee per group session is substantially lower than individual parent support and therefore can be consider the best "bang for your buck" from a parent support standpoint. Further fee reductions for group participation will be considered for reasons stated above.
